[9th Edition - MYC] Improved Research + More Colleges

Good afternoon everyone!

Welcome back to the journey of building the future of higher ed social media intelligence.

Thank you for following along. If you're new here, the purpose of this newsletter is to keep y'all informed on what's working & new, and the occasional ask for feedback to help shape the product further.

I did not wake up today thinking it was going to be so busy—I'm really getting this update out as a buzzer beater. I hope everyone is staying warm! If you're far enough south that this doesn't apply, just know I'm jealous and questioning my choice to stay in Michigan, haha. Some nice improvements got accomplished this week—let's dive in!

TL;DR (Too Long, Didn’t Read)

  • 3x number of colleges in our database

  • Research improved with groups

WHAT’S NEW

More Benchmarks: Community Colleges + Graduate Programs

We've successfully imported community colleges, graduate programs, and degree-only programs from IPEDS to increase the number of institutions we can benchmark. We now have 5,621 institutions and 7,932 accounts in our database. Exciting to see what new insights we can uncover!

Improved Researching: Athletics, Groups, & Systems

The biggest feedback we've received to date was the wish to filter for groups like "Ivies," UCs, or athletic divisions and conferences. Based on user interviews, we've refactored the research tool to be much easier to use (hopefully!). With the new UI/UX, you'll find more advanced filters and even the ability to add specific colleges by lookup, as well as new groups.

New Filters added:

  • Specific College Search

  • Systems (UCs, CSUs, etc.)

  • Groups (Ivies, etc.)

  • Divisions (D1, D2, D3)

  • Conferences (Big Ten, SEC, etc.)

  • More IPEDS Data

    • Institutional Control

    • Institutional Category

    • Level of Degree Offered

Making New Groups

CHALLENGES / ASKS / WHAT’S NEXT

Feature Idea: Would You Want a Research Like Function for Meta Ads?

I realized, through Meta Ads Library, we could provide similar detail or allow you to search what other colleges are running for ad creatives. Would it be helpful to have a separate tab to see what ads universities are running? Or should we stick to organic only?

Any other insights on how paid media is used in your current content management system? What's the biggest challenge? Really, the sky's the limit—the more knowledge, the better on how we could help.

As always, I appreciate you all for your help so far. I'm very excited to keep this going. Be on the lookout on Fridays for my quick updates.

We're always seeking your valuable advice and feedback. If you have any insights, thoughts, or ideas that you believe can contribute to our growth, we're all ears.

Thank you, once again, for being a part of our journey.

Best regards,

Blake
